Do holster companies actually make their own or just outsource?

I've been going down the rabbit hole recently of researching and trying to buy holsters for my carry guns. It seems more than a few of these companies are all selling the exact same thing. The only difference is the artwork on the holster or the logo on the clips. Are these companies really forming and making their own kydex holsters or are they simply buying from 1 or 2 big manufacturing companies and adding finishing touches in house?

Hard to speculate without brand names/in the abstract. I'm confident the bigger names in the industry - TXC, Tenicor, Carey Concealment, JM Custom Kydex, T1C, TRA all CAD design, print, and finish/assemble their own holsters themselves from start to finish.

Agreed. Bigger companies probably do everything themselves. Amazon specials (not that there's anything wrong with that, if you just need a $20 OWB for CCW qual) all probably get theirs from one large manufacturer. Then, you have the really small guys that just make their own in their garage.

Then I was shopping for a velcro backed holster for my sling pack. Was going to order from Eclipse but then found a company called Gungoddess that had the same thing, same print options and same rivet color options but was slightly cheaper. Even some of the stock photos were the same.

Maybe if you’re buying cheap Amazon, turners, ammo bros type holsters. Most of the custom holsters are in house manufactured. They are made to order with specific pistol/light combos, specific clips, Kydex colors, fabric lined, etc. The precision CNC manufacturing used now may make it look like they are mass produced by one company, but I guarantee each is different. I can definitely tell the difference in my Red Hill tactical holsters vs say my T1C holsters. 2 great manufacturers, 2 completely different holsters
