Concealed With a light - is it ever comfortable?

I wanted to step up my EDC with the addition of a light. I purchased a TRL-3 and a new We The People holster for my EDC G19.

With the standard – no light “We The People” I am happy to carry all day. The extra bulk of the light is super uncomfortable. It sucks.

You guys that carry with a light – what is the trick?

IMO, the G19 is heavy as is without a WML. Carry a separate, lightweight EDC light AND train to draw/shoot with a secondary light.

I used to have a bunch of WML on all of my handguns, but have eventually moved away from them. Now, I carry my G19 with a separate pocketable Streamlight that is rechargeable. The Streamlight has higher light output and can strobe/flood a room better than my previous WMLs could. Plus, it's so lightweight in the pocket, it doesn't change my movement dynamics or anything.

I find that carrying the holster closer to my midline (12 o’clock on my waist) gives me more clearance for the light so that it doesnt Jab my thighs when I sit, etc. Without the light, I carry more around 12:30 because that conceals better for my body shape.

Ultimately, you’re going to need to tailor your carry location and setup to your gun, body shape, style of dress, and comfort threshold. I doubt the folks here will be that helpful (no offense - it’s just a very nuanced conversation that requires more attention than most people will give out willingly for a stranger). The Phlster Concealment Workshop group on Facebook is amazing for working through these sorts of questions though. I can’t recommend that group highly enough.

All that being said, having a WML on a handgun for carrying outside the home isn’t necessary, IMO. If the light is causing you to not want to carry due to discomfort, you’re better off ditching the WML. It’s still worth exploring if you can make it comfortable though, if it’s something you want to do - just don’t let it make you stop carrying.

Not sure about a trick but I'm able to carry my EDCs with a TLR-1HL without discomfort in my T1C MSP Pro Flex holster. There are days when I've carried from morning to night without feeling uncomfortable.

I carry a G19 with a smaller WML, Olight PL Mini 2; 4 o'clock IWB, Vedder holster. Been doing that for years with no problems.

I'd pretty much echo this, Glock 19 (or in my case P01) size without a light is super comfortable, the barrel can kinda go between my balls and my thigh. With a WML (TLR7HL for me) carrying closer to right at 12oclock seems to make things a lot easier, other than pissing standing up because it's right behind my fly.
Also realizing I have toddlers and have my hands full, I don't go out much at night, don't need WML on most CCW guns.

Carry my glock 17, glock 22, and glock 19 all equipped with surefirex300 with werkz holster, carry all day long. not a single problem.
