Colt Cage Code Upper with "C" Marked Barrel Question??

Was this ever a thing produced by Colt? Did Colt ever produce an M4 upper "Cage Code" upper with a "C" marked barrel? I was thinking this could have been produced during Colt's transition from "C" marked components to "Cage Code" components. Would Colt's QC allow this? Any thoughts? Thanks- George

Not that I've seen. When Colt transitioned from C MP to the cage code the C never appeared along with the cage code. I'm sure you're a.ready aware of mixed cage code uppers mixed with C MP marked barrels or the reverse did come out of the factory until all the C marked uppers/barrels were used up.

Not that I’ve seen. Could be someone assembled it with parts they had.

I received a Colt upper as part of a trade. It has a “Cage Code” upper and a “C” marked barrel. The barrel is a 14.5” marked 05/04 for the date. A good friend just gifted me a DD RIS II hand guard. Time to assemble a Block II M4.

Oh the blasphemy, I hope Samuel Colt doesn’t get to terribly upset for mixing the two!

I’ve never seen it but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility it’s factory built.

Inspect for tooling marks. Most people can’t assemble an upper without marring something but the factory can.

There was a known transition period… from what I understand it’s more common to see cage code barrels with c mark uppers but again I wouldn’t rule it out.

Either way you have genuine Colt. It’s a good thing
