closing out my first year on firearm ownership and collecting with a US Krag whose serial falls into the antique range rather then C&R range. this past year has been an obviously financially poor year for me. but I feel satisfied in that I was able to hunt down 2/3 of my grail antiques (the Krag and Lebel) the final one would be a Martini Henry chambered in .303 which i found one but it turned out to be a Khyber Pass copy. I'll likely be taking a break from collecting for now to recover from this devastation on my bank account save for the Martini which also means icing my remaining list for the time being.

But more about the Krag, it's serial falls into the Antique range rather then the C&R range so I was able to have it shipped to my house direct and based on the range, saw service in the Philippines to shoot at Moro Rebels or in the Spanish-American War with an artillery regiment

The Family Photo(L>R):
  • Springfield Krag-Jørgensen (30-40 Krag)
  • St.Entienne Lebel (8mm Lebel)
  • Terni Carcano M.38 (7.35 Carcano)
  • 1st Series Nagoya Type 99 Arisaka (7.7 Arisaka)
  • BSA Shirley Lee-Enfield Rifle no.4 mk1 (.303 British)

Nice start, now go take out a 2nd mortgage, PAX

I’ve been collecting for 20 years and you picked up all the major holes in my collection. Very nice examples of each also.

Currently looking for a Lebel

Also looking for a 91/38 Carcano with 6.5 X 52 Ordnance Optics scope and an Egyptian Mauser mount.

Typ 99 is definitely high on my list.

Also looking for an unmollested enfield, not real picky but a Jungle Carbine would be my first choice. I have 2 horrible bubba’d enfields.

Also would like a full sized Krag to sit along with my cavalry carbine.

Now, things you probably shouldn’t even think about

Rolling block
Ross 1905 MK III
M1903
Then, the myriad of Mauser 98’s
Mannlicher
Swiss K96/11 K31

Just don’t think of any of those. it won’t end well for your wallet.

Patience and diligence, TRY not to impulse buy. You'll get there. PAX
