CCW courses in SF Bay Area

I also recommend Gunkraft. I started out there for my out of state permit (Utah, Arizona) class 4 years ago, then went back for my California CCW class and then again for the CA renewal. I might try someone else on my next renewal in a little over a year, but only to get different training perspectives, not because anything is lacking in any way from Robin.

It is of course necessary to verify in advance that a given instructor is accredited by the issuing authority for the County or city in which you are applying - it sounds like everyone is tracking that but worth making clear to others who may read this thread in the future.

Leo Defensive Concepts is accredited in Alameda County, and work mostly out of the Livermore - Pleasanton Rod and Gun Club, located North of Livermore CA. Most of the instructors are former law enforcement with important insights into both practical and legal aspects of carrying a concealed weapon. They are attentive to students, ably passing on lesson material and focused feedback for improvement.

I recommend LEO Defense for same reasons as were well said by Experimentalist.

Looking for highly-recommended CCW hands-on courses in SF Bay/Area that you think provide best value for the price, and of course worth the time, because 16hr is a ton of time to spend on a weekend over the holiday season, am I right?
I know a lot of these are full or months away, but I am truly trying to invest in a CCW course (for CA) with instructors that I can stay attentive on the topic.

I think there is some implicit bias to the responses, just because most of us will only have have experience with one agency for the 16 hour course. Anyhow here is my experience:

I liked Bay Area Tactical. Their website not as detailed and informative as I would have liked, but everything else is great.

BAT has weekday and weekend classes, which is unique. Shorter classes because one session is zoom on a weekday evening. See second range day can be scheduled many weeks after if someone needs more personal range time. Apparently second range day can be at their ranch with food and all kinds of drills like crouched and prone. Ranch days are only once a month so harder to schedule. Love their flexibility.

The brothers were knowledgeable and helpful. Really made substantial improvements to the shooters in my group. Realistically a couple guys came in shooting groups that would not have passed qualification. By the end of the shooting session they were shooting great and passed.

Their equipment requirements were more reasonable than others I contacted. Some places need you to buy electronic hearing protection. They provide if necessary. Some places wanted 4 magazines. They didn't require 4. Some places required high quality owb holsters for all guns to qualify but they didn't. I really didn't want to purchase an owb holster for all guns, because I would never be carrying owb.

Another vote for Paladin in Concord. Those guys are fantastic, and make the boring stuff as fun as it could possibly be. Dan and Barry are awesome.

I did my CCW class with Saber Tactics and will do my renewal class with them as well. Great people and most importantly (for me) was I felt safe there

you need to consider whose approved in your County. Not everyone will be approved for cert depending on where you live.

I worked with Trygon out of Dublin - they have CoCo and Alameda certification. Very good classes and support classes that help too, including access to the range with live fire holster training and practice classes where you can draw from holster. Not many places offering anything like that.
