California's SB2 designated 29 "sensitive areas" that are restricted even for CCW Holders, and enforceable as of March 2025, as follows:
Bars and restaurants that serve alcohol
Playgrounds and youth centers (and adjacent streets and sidewalks)
Parks, athletic areas, and athletic facilities (and adjacent streets and sidewalks),
Most real property under the control of the Department of Parks and Recreation or Department of Fish and Wildlife,
Casinos and similar gambling establishments
Stadiums and arenas
Public libraries
Amusement parks, zoos and museums
School and university properties
Airports or passenger vessel terminals
Federal Buildings and Facilities
Police, Sheriff, or Highway Patrol Stations
Polling places, voting centers, precincts, ballot handling sites
Private businesses (unless owner posts explicit signs permitting CCW access or "Vampire Rule")
* Hospitals and medical facilities *
* Public transit (buses, trains, stations, etc.) *
* Permitted assemblies (like festivals and parades) *
* Places of worship (churches) *
* Banks and Financial institutions *
(Basically everywhere, lol)
* the appeals court has ruled that these locations (including their parking areas) are NOT enforceable sensitive areas, meaning concealed carry is currently permitted there
