So I just installed the CGW Pro package with race hammer, SRS2 kit, and each reduction kit in my sp-01 and it feels great! Set the pretravel screw to make sure DA resets, set the overtravel screw so the hammer releases in SA without dragging on the sear, and set the adjustable sear to ensure the safety functions with the new hammer. All went well (even the hammer pins) and the gun feels great, I’ve had the SRS before in another 75 but this race hammer and reach reduction REALLY make a big difference even with the 13# hammer spring (I will try the lighter HS once I test this one at the range).
I ran into one possible issue though, and that is the lite firing pin block plunger spring that came with the kit seems really small in diameter compared to stock. Small enough that it doesn’t fit snugly into the plunger hole and seems like it could possibly move around and get jammed or otherwise bind up. It functions ok right now with dry function tests, but I’m worried it’s maybe the wrong spring meant for another model with a smaller plunger hole… I even took the 10 year old CGW lite plunger spring out of my 75BD and that one is the same diameter as stock… sits snugly in the hole.
Has anyone gotten one of these kits recently and noticed this? Is it possible they just redesigned it to have a smaller diameter for some reason, or do you think this is the wrong part?
First pic is of the new CGW spring. Second is of the old CGW spring from my 75BD (it’s the same diameter but a little shorter than the stock spring which I would expect as it’s lighter). Both are in the sp-01 plunger for size reference.
