Aero Precision AR-10(s) - What's the good, the bad and the ugly?

My commie 308 AR (7.62x39) will blow though abandoned cars in the desert. Those steel slugs will put a hole through everything but the engine block.

Then a mag dump from a .308 should take down a 1,400 lbs. Kodiak if necessary.
 
Alaska guides use 12 gauge slugs

Ok, but what is your purpose for being out there? What are you doing? Homesteading? Hunting? Hiking? Photography? Fishing? What you are doing should decide if or what firearm you may want to bring with you. From your comments, it sounds like your use case is just wandering around looking for bears to blow away. There's probably thousands of tourists that go to Alaska every year and don't carry a firearm with them.

If that's what it sounds like to you then you need to get your hearing checked. It's actually none of your business what we are doing out there but, we have been going to Alaska each year for the past 15 years and we like exploring the wilderness. We are staunchly anti-hunting but, we have had a couple of close encounters and last year my Remington 700 was damaged.

All that said, I don't need anyone's advice as to how to use a weapon or what caliber weapon to use. The thread was started asking for opinions about the Aero Precision offerings. If you have input about their weapons, great, I would welcome that input. On the other hand, if you are looking for a fight, I urge you to take it elsewhere. Seriously, for F-'s sake, who pissed in your cheerios this morning?

Calm down. I asked an honest question to provide context. This is basic practice when developing solutions to a question/problem statement. Franky I dont give a rip what you do. Just trying to understand need/use case to help inform your decision making. Note I already provided a lot of information based on my experience with Aero M5s. Youve been cryptic about what your needs are. What you provided just now is a lot more informative. Sorry to have upset you.

If you are just looking for people to tell you what you want to hear then sure, go get yourself a heavy AF Aero "AR10" so you can "mag dump" on a bear. Happy now?

Since you've been going to Alaska for many years, what are other people carrying out there, if anything? Are they all lugging around heavy large frame ARs?

Based on my experience with Aero's, I wouldn't trust my life to it. It's been reliable after breaking in. But I use mine for target shooting at the bench.

If I was really concerned with Alaska bear attacks I'd get a guide first, then If I really felt I needed a firearm I'd probably go with either a 12ga shotgun or a levergun.

This isn't you is it? LOL!
