All so called "assault weapon" "features" used in conjuction with a detachable box magazine were banned decades ago. Hence the term "Assault Weapon Ban". Only thing left to ban is the semiauto action itself. Which would outlaw a huge category of firearms exactly what England and Australia and New Zealand have done.

Bullet buttons are illegal here now. That is the California way, turning a legally bought product into a crime. I gave some of mine away years ago.

Bullet button firearms were banned effective 1/1/2017. Anyone with a bullet button gun had the following options:

• Remove the firearm from the state
• Separate the lower from the upper (if an AR)
• Convert to "featureless"
• Convert to fixed magazine

Bullet buttons aren't "illegal", but they no longer serve to make a rifle with evil features ok. Now you have to go 'fixed mag' if you want evil features...

They are not a legal method to make a centerfire semiauto firearm fixed magazine; hence, they are illegal. Sure, you can have a box of bullet buttons. You could probably even put one on a featureless gun. But what would be the point?

The irony is that when you convert to featureless, you can ditch the bullet button and use a normal mag release.

But they are illegal... as a method to comply with CA "assault weapon" laws. Which is what everybody means when they say they are "illegal". Why else would anyone want one or even talk about them anymore? In the context of this thread, they are both pointless and illegal. Context is everything. Dont be autistic.
